Glasgow Airport Patient Lounge News

We just wanted to share a piece of good news we received this morning from Glasgow Airport Management. After many months of our Group trying to get a dedicated Patient Lounge (like the one enjoyed by patients travelling through Aberdeen) patients returning to Islay can use the ‘Baby Room’ at Gate 16!

This will enable those just released from hospital or seriously ill/infirm patients to sit in comfort with a bit of privacy whilst they await the return flight. Although it’s not the dedicated Patient Lounge Feis Ile had also worked hard to secure previously, it is a huge improvement from hard plastic chairs! Nursing Mothers still have a private lounge within the room to breastfeed.

Obviously, patients with contagious illnesses should not use it as they could cause harm to those with compromised immune systems who are meant to be avoiding public spaces, as well as to Mums and babies.

This is just one example of our Group working hard to make a real difference to Patients living on our remote Islands.

Cancer Support Group Islay

This is an informal and friendly group set up by those affected by Cancer to provide support and share information with others going through the same  journey who also live on Islay. We believe no one needs to tackle this alone and we understand the extra isolation and difficulties often experienced when you live in such a remote location.
