Beatson Cancer Charity Wellbeing Services
A welcoming comfortable lounge on Floor 4 of The Beatson where you can go for a coffee & chat in between your Outpatient appointments and they also have a Wig and Hair loss advice service for Outpatients. Their full service of Complementary Therapies are also provided there for In-patients at the Beatson in lovely Spa style treatment rooms. They also have satellite services at other Glasgow Hospitals. A comprehensive online Cancer Support Directory helping people to find useful services. They also partner with Social Security Scotland to help with disability benefits applications. Argyll & Bute Welfare Rights Officer – Kerry Gillespie
Regularly visits Islay to provide advice and assistance with issues such as DWP benefit applications, Grant applications, claiming back travel expenses and applying for Blue Badges. They can provide home visits, phone calls or drop in appointments in the Council Offices in Jamieson Street, Bowmore. Tel: (01586) 555 935
Mid-Argyll Transport Volunteers
A band of volunteer drivers who may be able to pick you up at Kennacraig and deliver you to and from your mainland Hospital appointments if you are unable to access Public Transport for such reasons as having a weakened immune system due to treatment.
